Top 5 shows and movies coming in November

Hi, friend! Welcome back to Worth the Watch. And happy Halloweekend! This year, my fiancée and I will be dressing up as Morticia and Gomez Addams and watching The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values for the very first time. Netflix’s Wednesday has become our cozy fall show, and since we’re tired of waiting for Season 3, we decided we might as well go back and watch the OGs.

We've got our Halloween plans sorted, but with November right around the corner, it's time to look ahead at what we'll be watching next month. And let me tell you, there's a LOT to look forward to.

To help you decide what's worth watching, I've rounded up my top pick 5 picks of the month, including the one theatrical release most worth the ticket price. Let’s get into it!

Top 5 TV & Movie Premieres of November

Apple TV

12 12 12

Streaming Nov. 13 on Apple TV

A heist takes 12 months to plan, 12 hours to execute—and a thief not caught within 12 days won't be caught at all. Across three pulse-pounding timelines, an FBI agent and a career criminal face off in a deadly game of cat and mouse through Europe.

Watch trailer

I recently told a friend about how much I miss Money Heist. It was one of the first heist shows I watched while learning about film production in college. I was enthralled by every episode and was so sad when it finally came to an end. Looking back on the show with a more critical lens, I can acknowledge the silliness of the premise and the absurd conveniences that move the plot forward. But it’s easy to look past its flaws because it was just so damn fun.

So you can imagine my excitement when I saw the trailer for 12 12 12, a story about “the biggest banking heist in the history of Europe.” Everything about the trailer feels like Apple’s attempt to recreate Money Heist, and I’m here for it. Yes, it’s going to be eye-rollingly stupid at times, but I don’t care. I’m eager to suspend my disbelief and mindlessly accept that a massive bank heist like this is actually possible!

Netflix

Possible Love

Streaming Nov. 6 on Netflix

Four strangers' paths cross by chance, leading to complex emotional entanglements that challenge their existing relationships and force them to confront uncomfortable truths about love and commitment.

Watch trailer

One of the top comments on the trailer for Possible Love reads “I don't understand anything and that is a good sign.” I couldn’t agree more. This Korean drama looks to be a bit more cinephile-coded than the other picks on this list, but I had to highlight it because it’s written and directed by Lee Chang-dong, the director behind Burning, one of my favorite films of 2018.

It’s not clear what exactly the story is about, but I was sold when I read this review by David Ehrlich, one of my favorite movie film commentators:

Another heart-stopping and novelistically layered stunner from modern cinema’s most literary auteur.

Godzilla Minus Zero

In theaters Nov. 6

War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant.

Watch trailer

To this day, I’ve never seen a better monster movie than Godzilla Minus One. It won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2024 on a shoestring budget of $15 million. Because of its massive success, director Takashi Yamazaki was given a bigger budget and a bigger team for the sequel. In interviews, he has stated that each effects shot in Minus Zero is more complex than those in Minus One. When talking about an in-progress sequence that he was particularly excited about, he described it as "probably one of the best kaiju sequences that I've ever seen".

Despite the breathtaking visuals, what stuck with me most about the first movie is its heart. This franchise is about guilt, grief, and redemption. It’s about the devastation of war, and finding hope through human connection. Those themes were explored masterfully in the first movie, and I couldn’t be more excited to watch the sequel on November 6.

Prime Video

Blade runner 2099

Streaming Nov. 25 on Prime Video

Fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, humanity has lost control of Los Angeles. Hunter Schafer stars as a fugitive forced to partner with a dying Replicant (Michelle Yeoh) to uncover a dangerous secret.

Watch trailer

To be totally honest, I hardly remember anything about the details of the Blade Runner universe. It’s been nearly a decade since I watched Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel and I still haven’t seen the original Blade Runner (I know, sue me!) but I’ll tell you this: I remember a vivid feeling of awe while watching 2049. I remember feeling that it was one of the most immersive science fiction stories I’d ever watched. Unsurprisingly, the trailer for 2099 looks visually stunning, which is enough to get my attention.

Peacock

The Good Daughter

Streaming Nov. 12 on Peacock

Sisters Charlotte (Meghann Fahy) and Samantha (Rose Byrne) Quinn have spent twenty-eight years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of extreme violence—until another horrifying crime forces them to confront their dark family past.

Watch trailer

As far as I’m concerned, Rose Byrne can do no wrong. She’s a phenomenal actress with a tremendous amount of range, and after being blown away by her performance in both If I Had Legs I’d Kick You and Bridesmaids, I’m super excited to see her co-lead this mystery thriller. Based on the best-selling novel by Karin Slaughter, this 6-episode limited series looks like a blend of Mare of Easttown and True Detective, which is right up my alley. Plus, Meghann Fahy and Brendan Gleeson!

Normally I’m wary of any streaming adaptation of a beloved novel, but in this case, the show was created and written by Slaughter herself, so I have faith that it’ll be true to the book.
